Undigested food
Soo I "inspected" my little leos poo today to find that there were undigested phoenix worms in her poo. The enclosure is heated properly with a warm side surface temp of 88-90 and a cold side at room temperature. She has been really putting them away, is she just eating too much? I'm going to start just putting 15 appropriately sized worms in her dish daily
I have a 100watt bulb that heats 2 20gal long aquariums, and it heats both enclosure adequately. Is the problem that there is no belly heat?
I'm trying to get a shelving system set up so I can put these 2 enclosures on UTH's and a tstat, so it's in the works, I'm just curious to know if this is just a husbandry issue, or an overfeeding issue, or something else.
Thanks :)

Re: Undigested food
belly heat definitely aids in digestion and generally is best for leos.
was the undigested matter mainly worms, or was it worms mixed in with brown fecal material? i want to make sure she didn't regurgitate--that would be mainly made up of worms, no fecal material and very undigested looking--like a mashed together clump of worms.

you got it, looks like a big pile of worms. If there was any fecal matter it was merely holding the worm bodies together. There was also no urates which is out of the ordinary. no spot of urine either. I was sitting at the computer when she came out and pooped. She didn't seem to strain or anything, just looked like she was doing her usual business, it just wasn't like it usually is.

Re: Undigested food
okay, but you did see her poop this mass? she probably just overate, seeing as how she has been so excited about her new worms. :) scale back a little on the worms but not too much as she is underweight and needs to catch up to where she should be.

well i saw her come out and walk around. she was eying the worms (as usual), she walked over to her new pee/poo spot and I turned back to my game and a little while later I looked back to find this mass of worms and a few gone out of the dish. I will continue to just leave a set amount of worms in the dish and weigh her regularly to track the progress.
hopefully I'll have my shelfs setup by this weekend and I can get the belly heat all set up.
