    breeding a blind snake
i was just wondering if anyone has ever raised a blind hatchling up, and bred him or her? if the blindness was not genetic, parents and sibs are all perfectly fine, is it possible to breed.

when you refer to blind snakes, are you talking about the smallest snake in the world? The skiny shiny black snake? If you are the talking about this species of snake I dont think they need a partner. There Boy/female, I forget the term. So theres no breeding partner. Im not sure on when and how they would go about when they start reproducing. Maybe someone else will chime in and throw some more info at you :) . All I know is that they need no partner to breed.

If you are talking BPs, which I am assuming you are, I would not think it a responsible thing to do to breed a blind snake...

There are too many issues to consider. You may think the blindness isn't genetic, but what if it is? How are you going to place blind hatchlings??

    Just some things to consider

sorry i was talking about a BP

yea i was just curious.... i personally wouldn't breed it. the person who has the snake wasn't going to sell it to me because i was looking for a pair to breed, it just got me thinking about other "less reputable" breeders that would breed it. if it was a morph and they didn't want a thousand dollar pet. it kind of relieved me that the breeder that has it wasn't trying to sell it for breeding projects.

this just reassures me that i found a very good breeder to make my first morph purchases from.

if the snake is blind from injury then its fine to breed it wont be genetic but if it was born that way i wouldent breed it.

also blind snakes or worm snakes can see they can detect light and dark to they arent truly blind.

I don't see a problem if the blindness is from a previous injury. I might be hesitant to allow such a snake to maternally incubate, just because of the obvious handicap and my fears on how it would affect her brood and her.
