Dog on 'roids?

No, but one of the strangest dog pictures I've seen in a while. Something I'd expect to see on a muscular breed, but certainly not a whippet.

Did you read the comments at the bottom?? Someone wants the owner to breed the dog!! Why in the world would you want to breed a dog with a known genetic deformity? Oh yeah.. people still breed dachshunds, english bulldogs, springer spaniels... Nevermind then!

There was baby born in Germany with that same defect, I've also seen some cattle with it.

Yep, I don't get it. :confused: That also reminds me of something similar on Dirty Jobs which showed this family that bred goats that sort of passed out when they got excited. The goats had a condition that tensed up all of their muscles and would just fall down for a couple of minutes. Pretty sad...

Yep. Myotonia congenita. As bad as it sounds they really don't suffer. We kept some on our farm when I was younger.

She looks like she's running on her knees in the last picture. Bless her heart!

The last pic is in deeper grass, I was confused until I noted the dog beside her in grass too.
As long as the dog isn't suffering, she should have a good long happy life. I saw nothing in any articles I've found to show that the owner is even considering breeding her, so the comment must have been just from some idiot.
She certainly looks healthy, other than the disorder. Shiney coat and a happy dog.

I saw that in a young whippet before. You would swear the thing had been on a treadmill 24/7. They look menacing, but still are sweet as can be.:)
