back from the powwow.... forgot my camera at home!!!

i was so mad at myself!!! i was about halfway to lac du flambeau when i realized i had left my cam. and i wasn't about to drive 2 hours back home to turn around and drive 4 more hours!!! i had a great time though! my little cousin (3) went in the dance circle in her first jingle dress! so cute! she was walking slowly so her jingles weren't so loud! haha! with the drums and singing and all the other jingle dresses.... anyways... it was nice to go up and see all my cousins... i took matt with me... his first time meeting my extended family and his first powwow. quite the learning experience for him! he decided that we should definitely go back next year! lol. and, while we were in town we decided to go to the museum... which happens to be named after my great uncle that just passed. we found an exhibit with ice fishing decoys... one that my grampa made! very cool! today when they did the honor song for veterans, i went out and danced in honor of my grampa and great uncles. it felt good to get out in the circle for the first time in like 3 years! so yeah, had a great time! wish i brought my camera so i could show you all some of the traditional dress (not to mention the scenery!) but.... maybe next year!

Sounds like you really enjoyed the trip. I bet your cousin was cute as could be in her jingle dress. I would love to see pics in the future.:)

Sounds like you had a blast! I haven't been to a powwow in years but I remember how much I enjoyed the littlest ones dancing and the drums. The traditional drumming, done by the experts, is just heartstopping.

for sure! i bought a cd from one group called stra8 across but i forgot it up there so my cuz is going to deliver it! lol. and she said she'll get me the cd from this years powwow for my bday! yay! luv my cuz!
