    broke azz humidifier
So I rigged up a homemade humidifier like in the diy section.

I used a 2 liter though. And instead of combining the 2 lines. I just put 2 airstones inside the bottle. With 1 hose coming out.

Now there's lots of air going in. But hardly any coming out. I just have no idea how this contraption in gonna raise the humidity for her shed.

    Any help is appreciated.

well the end of the tube that is in the tank, can you feel air blowing out of it? if you don't then somethings wrong.

How long have you had it running? it could take a day or to to raise the humidity any.

the whole concept is that the air in the bottle above the water is saturated with moisture, and by pumping air into the water you are forcing the saturated air out and through the tube into the tank. this moisture filled air will help raise up the over all humidity.

i use mine all winter when it's driest here, and it kept the humidity up to 57%. i took it out this summer because it was pushing humidity up to 75%.

    hope this helps.

Oh there's air coming out. Just not as much. There's no leaks though. Hmmm

I don't have it ran to her tank yet. I just finished making it. How did you make yours? Did you make it another way? Or the same exact as the diy?

Her humidity is steady around 54%. But when she sheds I wanna have it up where she needs it.

Tank setup. Flexwatt on both sides. And a overhead lamp to keep the ambients right above 80.

Thanks for the fast reply. You've helped me with a lot of questions! As have many other members. Thanks everybody.

i made it pretty much the same as the DIY, cept i used a different container. the one i use has more surface area for the water to evaporate and saturate the air better. i used a screw driver to punch a whole in the screen top, where the tube goes in.

to use it while they're in shed, you have to start running it the moment you see the pink belly or blue eyes, cause it dose take some time to bump the humidity up with it. so give the tank a mist when you start running it.

hope it helps you like it's helped me out.

on a side note, i read that zoomed is developing a hydrostat, kinda like a thermostat of a mister. it will mist the tank and once it reaches a set humidity the mister will stop. can't wait for that one haha

Zoomed is making one? Hmm. I can't wait either. Haha.

Ill be sure to check for signs of her starting her shed. Ive had her for a month and she's just a baby. So I'm keeping a watchful eye.

Maybe wrap my spare flukers heat pad to the 2 liter to help with evaporation. Who knows. Ill just have to try it out and see how it does.

I know I can mist the cage and the huimidity only jumps up maybe 10%. But drops back down pretty quick.

Can you post any pictures of your setup?

right now i don't have it set up cause its humid enough here in the summer, just need some misting here and there.

i dunno if running a heat pad on the bottle will work, any better but you can give it a try.

I just fired it up again and let it run for a good couple minutes. Double checked for leaks.

All of a sudden the outlet hose was full of condensation!! I was happy! Haha.

Ill hook it up when she starts shedding. I'm thinking as long as the top is kept covered. Which is already is. My humidity will jump up high enough. If not ill reposition some of her stuff and get the water dish right under the heat lamp. That should help.

actually a heat lamp will kill humidity faster then creating it. just moving the water dish into 85-86 degree ambient temps and the humidity will raise.

when i use my lamp, in the winter, i put in on the cool end, and leave the warm end's screen top covered with tinfoil and duct tape (or whatever). the lamp raises the ambient temps and the tinfoil and tape hold in in the warm end.
