just a caging idea... need some opinions
well i was looking at the largest clear plastic tub i could find. and besides the VE series at reptiletubs.com, i found a couple sterilites at walmart but the biggest one was only 31x12x12. so i had a little idea, what if i bought a large storage bin like 40 gallons, the ones that are all blue or all brown, and cut a hole in the side which i covered with Plexiglas. i would use some kind of sealant, like silicone or something. then there would be plenty of light, and it holds humidity and temps like a tub. i can take him (a 3.5-4' BCI) in and out through the top, which might be a little easier.

i realize i could just get a 4x2 cage from boaphile or RBI and be done with it, but i don't know how long i am going to have this boa (it's a rescue) and i don't want to spend the money on a cage that he will only use for a short while. i just bought a herpstat that i can use on my rack and move the JC over to his tub. i would like to avoid a cage but the clear tubs seem to be a little small for him. any opinions would be helpful.

The Target's and Wal-Mart's near me have some pretty big clear tubs. Using the hole and plexiglass method I would think might make it a little weak, but you could give it a try and see.

Or what about using one of the opaque tubs and just installing a light fixture on the inside to provide light?
