Eeek!!
I've already put a call into my vet to see if I need to bring her in so he can check on her. She's still moving around normally and that's why I didn't rush her in.
Okay, she's about to shed, so I didn't think anything of her blue eyes, pink belly, not eating, etc. She's been a little sluggish and resting funny in her tank. Like she's balled up, but her head isn't resting under or on the coils, but away on the substrate. I've never seen her do that before, so I took her out of the tank. A few minutes later, she was moving around around my neck and saliva dripped out of her mouth. This has never, ever happened before! I freaked out. She's my baby, so I immediately called the vet. I'm waiting for a call back.
She's slithering around on the carpet right now. Why would saliva drip out of her mouth?!! It happened quite a few times in the space of several minutes. help!

Re: Eeek!!
sounds like RI...make sure to call that vet back if she does not return your call!!! Best of luck with getting your snake treated.

Re: Eeek!!
Sounds like a respiratory infection.

Re: Eeek!!
Okay, I'm getting ready to go to the vet NOW!
What did I do to cause this? I want to cry right now.

Re: Eeek!!
There can be a few contributing factors but do not worry about that right now...get to the vet and get your snake treated then come back and let us know what is going on.....everyone here can help you to figure out if it is your set up that contributed to this.....best of luck..now hurry and get to the vet:)

Usually cooler temps, dirty enclosure and/or stress. Some animals just have weaker imune systems. The imporatant thing is to get her to a Vet ASAP. RI's can be deadly if not treated. If you have other snakes you will want to quarrantine her so no one else catches it and disenfect all her items(water bowl, hides, tubs etc..) and don't mix then up with the other snakes items (very contagious). Best of luck. You will probably need to give her injections perscribed by the Vet. Some snakes are just more susceptable than others.

Re: Eeek!!
Back from the Vet! Early RI, I have medicine for her. The vet said she looked good, but it was great that we caught it early.
Okay, now I'm going to disinfect her entire set-up.
To keep the humidity right, usually I mist the inside with warm water every day. Do ya'll have a recommendation for something else? I use a heating pad to keep one side warm and one side cool. Bad? Good? Something else? She also has water, substrate, etc. etc.

Re: Eeek!!
How are you measuring your temps and humidity?

Re: Eeek!!
Thermometers on either side and an attachment that tells me the humidity.

Re: Eeek!!
Those digital thermometers and hydrometers or the stick on types?
