trip not what I expected!
We went to Brookfield Zoo today. Will post picks later. I saw very few herps. Was really amazed at how few they had. The last time I went I thought we had missed some displays. It appears to be a nice zoo, but reptiles don't seem to be a focus. I know zoos are keeping fewer specimens due to upkeep cost from what I hear. I think we have a wider variety here at home. I counted six snakes. I'm sure there were more, but where?:(

That sucks. I enjoyed my visit to our zoo. I went a little over a month ago and only saw one snake exhibit and I went back a couple weeks ago and found another one. They mostly have vipers, but they had a couple green Mambas, an Egyptian cobra, african rock, bushmaster, HUGE green anaconda, and lots more im leaving out or forgot. I was pretty impressed. There were tons of tiny vipers though, along with poison dart frogs and other herps.
Re: trip not what I expected!
I know the St. Louis zoo had a lot when I went years ago. Don't know if that is still true.

Our two small zoos here in Central Florida (The Brevard Zoo and the Central Florida Zoo in Sanford) do not have large collections of reptiles at all. The Brevard Zoo had 2 snakes plus the bally python they used as a picture prop. Tha Central Florida Zoo had a herp house but there were very few snakes, mostly lizards and such. :(
