thats a little much for a 1 year old snake. he's probably fasting since he is over feed. a adult snake needs no more then a small small rat ever 7-10 days.

how much does you ball weigh? his length?

If it's only been 3 weeks, and your husbandry is spot-on, I wouldnt worry. Just offer a SM. rat once a week, same day at night until he takes. That's all he needs :D Just re-evaluate everything to make sure you didn't miss anything. It's easy to do and we've all done it. Did you recently change anything? He has appropriate sized hides? Is he possibly going into shed?

The longest strike I ever had was my pastel male during his first breeding season - it was 5 months long. Then one day, BAM - eating like crazy, as if nothing ever happened. They are funny little creatures

I have a similar question. My baby Angelina has never turned down a meal and she's been eating med size rats. Today she wouldn't eat. She's about to shed. I'm about 99% sure that's why she didn't eat, but I wanted to double check with the experts. I'm soaking her in warm water right now.

Why do you soak your BP? Because of the shed? Provide proper humidity in the enclosure and your BP will shed just fine. (I would not consider soaking any of mine unless I had stuck shed issue)

As for the refusal yes some BP will refuse to eat while in shed it varies from one BP to another, however if you feed medium rats BP will sooner or later stop fast to catch up.

Feeding a smaller prey allow your BP to be a more consistent, I don't feed anything larger then a small rat (4 weeks old 45-65 gram) once a week even to my largest adult.

Because they can eat large prey does not mean they need to.
