    UTH Temp. problem...
I have 2 10 gallon tanks and they have a UTH under each of them, but the Temps on the Hot side only reach 80-82 degrees??? Any idea how to fix? i have tried putting a sheet over the screens on top but that didn't help any... The UTH's i bought do not have temp gauges... what should i do???
    Any good ideas?

    All advice taken in consideration!!!
    Very Respectfully,
    Matt :D

you can try covering the tank to get the heat up. what kind of UTH are you using. you can't got wrong with flexwatt. it's cheap and will get your temps to where they need to be, with the help of a thermostat of course.

How are you measuring the temps?

Also, where in the tank are you taking these measurements? (top, middle, bottom, under the substrate, on top of the substrate, in the hide, outside the hide - be specific)

I have been covering the tank. I don't remember the name of the UTH, but i do remember it cost me about $20... so if that helps...

I am measuring temps with a sticky thermistate, on the top of the tank, on the hot side and the low side, the side the UTH is on is roughly around 82 degrees constintly... covered, uncovered, doesn't matter, stays the same, Humidty levels are at 45-60 roughly.

those sticky thermometers suck btw they are very inaccurate ,measure near the substrate where your snake lives, up near the top of the tank serves no purpose, to get accurate temps get a digital thermometer from walmart and put the probe just under the substrate under his hot side hide, it will be bang on, im guessing if your temp is 82 at the TOP of your tank im afraid what it is at substrate level, hope this helps

Under the substrate on the glass, or under the substrate somewhere between the surface and the glass? This is something i've been confused about...

just under the substrate enough to cover it up so you don't get misreadings from the snakes body temp, and not too deep that it's measuring the heat right off the uth or it will give you false high readings

Well what thermometer from walmart are you talking about? can you please link me the one your talking about so i can get it right... Will i need one Theremometer per tank? or can i split it up with the three of them? Will the theremometer read both the cool and Hot side if i don't split it up, and put on in each tank?
