    If those are your temps, you need to heat things up a bit. 55 is way too low. try between 80-83 on cool side and 90-95 on warm side. A thermostat helps alot. I would suggest ranco for a single ball but helix seem to work better due to the proportional heating rather than the on/off heating.

    I think the 544 that you are seeing is actually the time 5:44. You have to set it for in and out temp or it will just show out temp(air temp), humidity and the time. So 88.2 would be way to warm for the ambient air cool side temp,

    I see the probe on the glass, that should be on or under the substrate. The probe is what will determine your warm spot, i bet its a bit warmer then 88. Then press the clock/temp button and get the time off of there your bp doesnt care what time it is.
