    newspaper as substrate?
hello im using a UTH and heat lamp as a source of heat but my UTH barely gets through my current substrate (repti bark) so i thought it would be good to make the switch to newspaper since its very inexpensive and would allow some heat transfer from the UTH.. and also im not sure if theres a particular type of newspaper to use..i mean i know theres only one kind (black&white) but is it possible for my snake to say go for a little soak and then go crawling about on the newspaper and cause the ink to rub off/smear on her?

That's possible, but all newspaper ink is soy based and won't harm your snake. If you're really concerned you can get unprinted newsprint at packaging stores.

If you have a normal I don't think it's going to bother you that much. It would probably show up pretty good on an albino.

Just don't freak out when you have a black stained belly like I did the first time! I just knew their bellies were rotting away! LOL
