i got sucked into the boa world...(DUW)

i got this big guy/girl at a nearby pet shop, he was selling it for $160, but wanted to get rid of it since it had gotten bigger(he's had it since it was a baby) so he gave it to me for $100 flat.

doesn anyone have experience with this species? 2 days after i got him/her she went "into the blue" and got PMS (Pre-Molt Syndrome) and would hiss at me like crazy. now i handle it and it doesnt do anything,just slithers around like nothin.

Very cool looking boa you got there, and a great deal it sounds for it. I dont have any experience with argentines myself. How old did he say it was? It doesnt look like much more than a yearling. Very good looking colors though. Why did this person get a boa to begin with though if he felt like it was getting too big after about a year? Doesnt sound like the person had a great understanding of it, because it will get to be about a 10 footer. Kind of odd. But congrats on your nice looking new boa!

he didnt tell me how old it was...he has his own shop and sells exotic animals.i guess he got it in as a baby and was hoping to sell it, but no one bought it and so it grew in his shop.he knew it got big, but he just wanted to get rid of it.

I own a couple Argentines now, as babies they are a handful...but they calm down with some handling. You have a very nice black and white one, very stunning! I'd guess it's an early 06 or a late 05. They have pretty much the same requirments as a BCI or a BCC for a setup. They are a bit pickier with humidity though. Keep it up at 55-60% and you should be fine. Any questions in particular?

do they normally have attitude problems before they shed? mine would hiss at me like crazy if i bothered it....how big would he/she get?

do argentines grow to be the same size as normal red tails and bci's i heard they were smaller somewhere
