Question for people that know tub setups only?
Ok I messed up my first tub by accidentally putting too many holes in it. And my probe for thermostat was in wrong place but Now i have all that corrected and bought a new tub to fix up! My Question is this cuz I get different response on here.....Should I put the starting air holes going in a line on all four sides or on just the one side which is the cool side?
Very IMPORTANT I get this info tonight cuz the tank I have my BP in isn't mines and the owner is getting their fish tank back tomorrow so I need to setup now so I can monitor and have her inside before I have to give tank up! Any help is appreciated!
Someone told me they put their holes on one end, the cool end, is why I am asking this cuz I put mines all the way around and my cool side wasn't cool enough and heated side was ok but I think if holes weren't there more heat could have been retained! So I wanted to make sure! Tell me what U think......
Re: Question for people that know tub setups only?
OK...for the scary answer...it doesn't matter.
By this I mean you need enough holes to create air flow, but not enough to lose all your humidity and heat. So I am sure your next question is then how many holes...the answer is NO ONE can you tell you. You have to experiment. Start out with a few holes (4-5 on 2 sides for a small tub/7-8 on 2 sides for a large tub - this is just a guess and starting point)...I would recommend you start on the sides where the air flow would be coming from. If you have no flow (a fan, vent, ect.) then what end you put the holes on doesn't matter.
The benefit of a tub is that is you don't have enough holes you just burn more...if you have too many you can use tape (on the outside of the tub) to close some up. You will find most likely that you need more holes in the summer and less in the winter.
Re: Question for people that know tub setups only?
Thanks LJ so it is best to put on two sides then starting out? I taped up alot of holes on first try it looked horrible LOL so I am trying again!
Re: Question for people that know tub setups only?

Holes on opposite sides allow air in/out...but honestly it doesn't really matter one side or 2...I was just trying to give you a starting point. If you are concerned start with just one side...then let the tub temps/humidity settle...if you need more move to the other side.

Thanks for the advice I will try that out!

50-60% day in/day out
60-70% during sheds
Re: Question for people that know tub setups only?
Anybody know the range of where my humidity should be at? Anyone? Right now the tub is at 61% with no holes put into the tub yet.....

What is the highest temp can go? my thermostat fluctuates it will turn off at a temp let it go down to a temp and turn back on again its just a few degrees apart but its hard to set to exact temp cuz there is no degree dial just a knob u turn to turn it up or down.......
