two fast easy to answer Questions.

1) for when i start to use another substrate other then paper. all ican get is - Aspen snake bedding. i dont know if any of you lot have heard of this but my vet says its good and its what he keeps his snakes on. just wanted to do a quick check to make sure it isent harmfull or anythin.

2) becasue i live in a extremly hot and humid country i have trouble keeping humid to 40-50, what is the best way to lower humidity.

oka doka. how thick should i put the aspen along the bottem of the tank?

im think like a inch or so. but one of you lot could tell me for sure :)

I use shredded aspen, and I keep it about an inch to an inch and a half deep, and it works well for me. It smells nice, too.

also, how would two different subrates work. like a mix of wood chips and aspen, becasue i cant get hold of enough to cover the tank only about 1 uncompressed bag.

the chips are about as a max of 3 cm long...and not sharp.

If you can't verify the origins or the type of chips, I would stay away from them. First, softwoods like cedar and pine are toxic to your snake. Second, "wild caught" wood chips could be harboring nasty little critters that you may not want in with your snake. Stick with the aspen!

I use Aspen and it is only about 1/2" thick...all it has to do is soak up urine and have a place for the poo (just like the paper does).

One thing to keep in mind that when you switch from paper you will need to monitor and adjust your temps again as the substrate is thicker so it takes more heat to go through it (to maintain the same temp you had on paper).

True, but make sure you continue to calibrate your temp at the surface of the tub. Otherwise it will get too hot and you will risk burns to your animal. Keep the layer of Aspen fairly thin and if they need more warmth they will move it to the side.
