What is the best brand of reptile thermostat?
I have a 500R thermostat and it won't work attached to the UTH only inside the tub......but everyone says its best to have it between the tub and UTH......so I may jus buy another but I want a better Quality one so help me other ladies and gents what do you think is the best brand to purchase?

There are really only 4 options (for the most part)

Helix and Herpstat - both are proporational so they only send the power needed to keep the temps stable (meaning the temps will stay within a degree of what you set). Both have lots off features (most features are designed for breeding use) and are the preferred models (will run about $125) - these are specifically designed for reptile use.

Ranco and Johnson - are 2 on/off models. These are industrial thermostats so they can handle a lot of wattage but it is either on or off which is fine for most uses but does use more energy and the temps will flucutate a couple of degrees each way. (will run about $75 fully wired). Not great for breeding but just fine for a tank setup.
