Feeding & Shedding ... question...
I think my BP is coming up on a shed (this will be the second shed since I've had her, and I'm looking out for the signs), and today is the day that she gets fed. Two days ago she had some pink showing up on her belly, and her skin looked a little dull, almost a bluish hue in some light, and she's tightly all balled up in her hide (even at night she wont come out.) .... So my question is, should I offer her food today, or wait? I remember last time I actually fed her and two days later she had shed (but at that time I wasn't aware that she was going to.)
Re: Feeding & Shedding ... question...
You can try to feed her. Some snakes will eat regardless of where they are in the shed cycle and others won't, but there's no harm in trying.
On the flip side, there isn't a problem with waiting another week until she finishes shedding either.
Your call. ;)
Re: Feeding & Shedding ... question...
Ok, thanks for the input ..... yea, I thought I had heard that you should feed them during a shed cycle, so I wanted to check with ya'll ... but I think she's still a few days out, so I'll see if she wants to eat today.
Re: Feeding & Shedding ... question...
All snakes are different. Mine is an eating machine and will try to escape out of her home every time I go to get her out if I skip feeding her a week. She'll eat no matter what. I guess what I'm trying to say is that after awhile, you know your snake. Kudos on watching for the signs!
