    can this be done?
well my snake just had his first shed it didnt go that good. my substarte that i use newspaper. i was wondering if i could use 1 layer of newspaper then aspen on top? i heard people say the snake could move the thermamtor off the spot and cause him to get a burn. so could i use aspen on top and mist it during shedding time. i was wondering if this would work or should i use just all aspen and no paper. thanks in advance.

It can be done however it will not help with humidity.

If you want to improve your humidity, you need to switch to a substrate such as Cypress Mulch, Repti-Bark, Bed-a-Beast etc which hold humidity better.

I assume you meant thermostat. The answer, tape the probe of the thermostat directly on the heat source (outside the enclosure) so it cannot be moved, or cooled down by water in the event your BP would tip his water bowl over.

Hatchlings are best kept on clean white paper towel. You can mist it prior to any shed to keep humidity up.
