What do you think? A mix?
HI all: I am new to BPs but it seems that everyone who meets Ben says he doesn't seem like a normal so I'm turning to the professionals for help-YOU! I'm sure you get this a lot and I beg your forgiveness and indulgence for yet another newbie thinking their snake is "special". I ask because I'd like to breed him and if he's carrying "other than normal" hets, I'd like to know.

Correct me if I am wrong but he does seem to have some type of markings that looks a bit like mild Mojave "flames" I should also say that those "flames" occur only on the first 1/2 of Ben's body.

His patterns are more of a GOLD colouring than yellow. Also the top of his head is slightly medium brown. His body is deep black. His eyes are also very dark and usually looks black unless in bright light and then they appear dark silvery grey. Very hard to see his pupils tho.

    Again, thanks for your opinions.

You have got a very beautiful "normal". It's amazing how much variation that comes between normals that to some it can be very hard to tell the difference. For an examples of other beautiful and "different" normals check out the thread below. All are normals except #7

Wow. How is that even possible? The variety I mean. It's so easy to understand why so many people, myself included, become so enchanted with a snakes. Stunning works of art really. So many little nooks and crannies to see on just one snake. Ever look at thier scales under a microscope?

Ben has what appears to be little aliens faces, "big toes" and smiley faces in his markings.

My corn snake is just as cool in that she's got some Morse Code on her!

    Thanks!

Aren't they though??? The patterns can be really wild. A couple ppl here have snakes w/words in their patterns, and my snake Snoopy was named that b/c she had a spot that was a profile of Snoopy blowing a bubble. :D :D (I'll have to find those pics.....Hmmmmmmmm)

Normal, but he's a very pretty one.

Appears that your snake is going into shed by that pink belly. :) Normals have a huge variety in shade, patterning, blushing, flames, etc. There's often nothing "normal" about a normal, they can be quite stunning even if they don't carry any genetics for a visible morph.

Yes, Ben is going to shed any day now. It's exciting every time, still! He sheds in one completely rolled up piece which I spend 20 minutes unravelling ever so gentley. I've never seen him do it but I bet it's fascinating because I think he must rub up against himself to do it. it's so evenly rolled up.

Do all BP's shed in this rolled up fashion or do some also shed like my corn snake does, in one long inside-out piece?

Thanks for the welcomes! Learning a lot here.

Hmmm...ya know, I never thought about that difference, but I see it with my two snakes as well. My BP sheds in a neat little roll (or, more often a wad with a big turd in the middle! :O :P )....but my Cape Gophersnake leaves one long inside-out sock draped all over his cage. It might be a species or genus specific tendency, but I never thought to check into that before. Fun question!!

    Oh...and welcome! :D :handshake
