got my crestie set up going.
ok i was getting ready for my gecko, and i got my 10 gal set up and just want to hear what everyone thinks. a few things you don't see: i have an acurite indoor/outdoor w/ hygrometer, will be getting a food and water dish and a stand to keep them on. does anyone here use the magnetic ledges the keep the food in the air? i was thinking about getting one of those. i also have a UTH on the upper rear of the tank, just in cause things get chilly in the winter. i will also be getting some flexible jungle vine that he/she can move around on. now the pictures.
this is the tank on it's side (i can put it back the normal way if i get a hatchling or small juvie)

the plants are connected with a little hot gule that took about 10 mins to put together and easily comes off, so it won't be bad taking them off to clean.
any suggestions or comments?
Re: got my crestie set up going.
Wow very nice... i got my 20 gal set up like that but i just got a new crestie at petco today. it is a blonde but it turns like a hunter green its kinda cool . ill be posting pics. but the only thing different i have in mine is a big bendable stick you can find almost at any petstore. nice set up. :)
Re: got my crestie set up going.
Yeah. I think you could do a bit better with the plants.
I would check the petstore.
Re: got my crestie set up going.
i know petco has the stick on plants and leaves wich is nice and easy to clean :p
Re: got my crestie set up going.
looks good far, but do add something more sturdy for climbing like some bend-a-branch or other horizontal perch type branches. what do you plan to use for substrate? the magnetic ledges work great for holding food dishes.
you might not really need the tape on the screen unless it is really dry where you are. you also don't need the uth on the cage unless it gets colder than 65-68 degrees for extended periods of time. if you do use the uth be extremely careful about how hot the glass gets (definitely use a thermostat) and make sure it doesn't heat the air temps over 82 degrees.
Re: got my crestie set up going.
yea i am picking up some exoterra jungle vine which bends and is something sturdy. i have some suction up holders for some branches i just haven't found any good ones yet. the heat pad was on the aquarium already and it's a pain to take them off so i just left it. substrate is going to be paper towels.
do i need to add some more fake plants, it seems like a lot to me. once i add in the vine and branches it might look better.
i don't plan on getting the crestie till july, when i will see matt from pangea at a reptile show. this gives me time to adjust the set up a little more.
Re: got my crestie set up going.
once you get the vines in there you probably won't need more plants--just see how it looks once you have it all in there. :)
