Eggs abnormality *mildly urgent*
So I got a clutch of 5 that was already sealed together by the time I got them out. There's 4 eggs on the bottom which are about half in the vermiculite, however the 5th is sitting on top of the other eggs.
It's about 3 weeks into it and last night the 5th egg had a good dent in it. I added a little water to increase the humidity, and tonight I looked at it again. The dent got bigger, and now there's two opaque spots on another part of the same egg.
Is this going to be a slug?

If it was a slug, it would be a slug from the beginning. Denting this early in incubation is due to low humidity. Is your egg box sealed?

If if is not denting to baddly I would not worry about it. Be careful adding water to the vermiculite because it could harm the half buried eggs.

Yeah, it's sealed. It's a tupperware with tiny pin holes around the top of the sides. But it's got humidity. When I added more water, it was only a bit... the eggs aren't floating or anything, lol.
As long as the humidity is good, then it shouldn't matter that it isn't touching vermiculite? Like I said, the other eggs are doing great... it's just the one that's completely exposed and not touching any vermiculite that's denting.
And the opaque spots? Ever seen/heard of those?

The top ones always dent more than bottom ones but they should be fine. I had the same thing with two different clutches. as far as spots or windows on the eggs, thats normal. Most people expect chicken like eggs that we are used to seeing, not the case with BP's.

When I was a kid we had a few chickens. Some of them would lay eggs, and one day I went out there and one had laid an egg that had no shell, just a thick flexible membrane! I wish it had been fertile... that would have been cool, lol.
Ok, I'll stop stressing. First clutch gitters.

If it's got pin hole, moisture is escaping from the container ... not sealed.

Doesn't matter at all ... if the egg was meant to survive and the egg container is setup properly it will make it. If the egg wasn't meant to survive, nothing that you do will help.
