Re: frist shed someone help
Ummmmm?????? first off .......one snake one cage! You need to seperate your snakes immediately!!!!
You do not have to worry about your snake...sounds like she is doing what she is suppose to....when your snake is in blue they are even more likely to stay in their hide and not come out until they shed.
If you are using a UTH whay are you using an overhead light? What are your temps?
you may want to familiarize yourself with the caresheet section of this forum....there is a lot of useful information on this site if you are just willing to look for it and ask questions.
Please seperate your snakes ASAP
Re: frist shed someone help
the air temp is 87 and i know u are not souppose to house bp togather but it is possible for them to live togather ok so what will happen when he is in blue should i divide the cage during this time
Re: frist shed someone help
Honestly when it comes to questions on mutliple snakes being housed together I am not going to be any help as I do not have a clue how this affects the snakes......
If they are both about the same size I do not see what the problem would be in going and getting a cheap 10 gallon tank and another UTH for the second snake.....I know at the reptile store I go to I can get a 10 gallon for $10 and a UTH for a 10 for under $20....$30 seems cheap to me compared to the possibilities of injury to one or both snakes requiring vet attention or having one of the animals killed.
Re: frist shed someone help
simplest solution is separate them... you can try and divide the cages and all sorts of stuff, but they are not going to be getting the best care if they are together. it is possible for them to live together... but not good for them. it's like saying its possible to eat thumb tacks, but is that good?
i think we went through this in another thread:
http://www.ball-pythons.net/forums/s...ad.php?t=49163
as for the shedding process try this:

Re: frist shed someone help
True.. They can "live" together.. Maybe.. For how long until one of the snakes decides one day that this roommate of theirs no longer needs to "live"... Well, that's for you to decide. They can live together but they won't thrive, or possibly even survive for very long.
Your temps are too low. 92-94 warm side and 82-84 cool side, 24/7/365. Get a digital thermometer and KNOW what your temps are.
SEPARATE THE SNAKES... There are people here who have been keeping these snakes for longer than you have probably been alive, and they have PROVEN that it is in the animals best interest if they are kept by themselves, singly.
If one has parasites and ends up having diarrhea, do you know which one did it? If one regurgitates because it is being stressed by the other snake in the enclosure, how would you know which snake regurged? If both snakes stopped eating for months because YOU are being selfish and not taking care of the snakes' needs before your own "wants", how are you going to remedy the situation? AND if one of your snakes eats the other one out of a stress-induced reaction and they BOTH die because of it, how is that going to make you feel/look?
Wow.. Just wow.
Good luck with that!
Re: frist shed someone help
ok i just had a question will the blue eyed one attack the other bp i know about the husbandatory factors i just wanted to know if they will attack when in shed and that will be the only time i will seperate them shedding and feeding
Re: frist shed someone help
wouldn't that be a lot more work then just setting up two enclosures?
and yes when they are in blue they are pretty much blind, so it might strike defensively at the other one.
Re: frist shed someone help
maybe when they are first born then i belive they can be housed together for a day or soo but after that i say seperate cages. and u do not need to use a light if you have a UTH (IMO) And like others have said when in blue they wont really come out of their hide. My snake does but shes stupid (I dont think she knows shes a BP) lol. But seriously you need to seperate you snakes and no offense but you said this is you first snake and this is its first shed so why did you go out and buy another one??? Please dont take offense to this i can be quite straight forward.
Re: frist shed someone help
i have 3 and i figured if they are a good starter pet why not get three it was a good deal and they were nice looking and no i only have 2 in one cage and the boy stays in his own cage
