Stuck shed Help?

My corn snake just shed for the second time with me but this time she still has the old skin on her face there and on parts of her neck. I've been told not to try pulling it off on my own. How do I go about getting it off of her? Will she get it off by herself over time?

get a small sterlite tub etc. put a little bit of water just enough to cover half the snakes body,* make sure the water is warm* leave him/her in there for about an hour or so. Then take him out, use a towel and let him run through it. Theres a link somewhere let me see if I can find it.

Ok found it, even though it's a Ball python stuck shed sheet, it'll work the same. :)

Here's what I do:

If it's just a small piece I will wet a q-tip with warm water and then rub it over the dry skin several times. Then gently, pull the skin up, it should come right off. If it doesn't come off easily, wed it a little more.

If it's a larger piece or an incomplete shed, take several paper towels and wet them (completely moist, but not soaking/dripping) with warm water. I put those in a small tupperware container with holes drilled so it can breathe. Then put the snake in there and close it up. I leave them in there for 30-45 minutes and let the humidity soak the skin. Remove the snake and gently peel away the pieces of skin. They should come off pretty easily. Hope this helps.

If it continues to be a problem you could give it a moist hide such as a container filled with some damp moss or just soak him briefly when his eyes turn blue so you won't have to worry about the bad shed in the first place.

be careful about how warm you make the water...

remember snakes are cold blooded, warm to us is hot to them. Only go 5-10 degrees or so above room temp.

Good point, it should be just that: warm. Not hot by any means.
