    Day 8 eggs
Here is Ginger's clutch at Day 8, today. I was a little worried about the spots but I see a lot of people's eggs that have them.

A nice egg macro shot :)

This guy worries me. It is the one that Ginger must have flipped over after/during laying, as it has newspaper ink on it, but I thought it might have just been caused by the paper folded up around the egg. We'll see.. I don't smell any rotting yet. It is odd that the yellowing is more near the paper ink..

I was a tad worried about daddy Ruger because he lost some weight during breeding.. but he is now a fat roly-poly as usual :)

Have you tried candeling the eggs yet? They look about like ours did, and I kept thinking I would start to see mold growing or something on the spots, but they did great.

Hey! I candled one (the individual one under the inked one) and there are nice veins! Found a little car flashlight in the house.. worked great.
They seem to be a Tad on the dry side; should the shells feel drier or moist? Mine feel drier.. see, I fixed my issues with condensation by melting 2 holes in the eggbox lid before the eggs were hatched; now though I think that the excess moisture escapes. So it's OK to add warm water to the substrate (Not onto the eggs; so it sinks down into it) right? I read about people doing this all the time.
See, the temps in the boxes are cooler than the incubator itself. but when I set the helix to 90 near the FW in the bottom, the eggboxes stay at a perfect 87 degrees.

    Jen,
If I feel that me egg boxes are getting a little dry, I pour water (that has been stored in the incubator, to maintain ideal temps) into one corner of the box. I feel that this water pretty much goes to the bottom of the box, and is not leached or wicked into the majority of the substrate. Therefore, you can achieve a higher moisture content, i.e. humidity, without getting the eggs wet. As for condensation, as long as it doesn't drip onto the egg, it is ok. I have all sides of the inside of the egg box covered in water droplets. I just ensure that it does not collect on the roof of the box where it can drop onto the egg.

p.s. I think those eggs look fine, and will hatch out no problem.

Thanks Tim. I did the same thing; I used water out of one of the bottles that is in the incubator as baffling/space filler.
