Hmm. Is his skin peeling off? It might be shed. When snakes are acting different it could be because they are shedding.

    Hi,

When you say like a dragonfly's wing do you mean silvery grey? or just irridecent?

Can you get a picture of it easily?

Oh and when did Darty shed last and was it complete - did he get his head and eyes off ok etc?

He's most likely in shed. As juvies, it's likely that they will shed around once a month, give or take a few days depending on the age of your BP, and it's own individual growth rate. If you're really freaked out, read http://www.ball-pythons.net/modules....warticle&id=57 about the shedding process, made by one of our own BP members here.

    Hey again,

Yeah he might just be going into shed again - any sign of a pinkish cast to his underside or a sort of misty look in his eyes?

The shedding schedule is kind of a tricky one to give definate answers on as it depends on the age, size, and feeding paterns of the snake as well as the odd factor like injury etc.

It's ok us going "it should shed about once a month" but then people with different snakes following different schedules tend to panic.:)

Some people will feed in shed and some won't... I don't because they can't see very well in shed and my boy gets freaked out. You might want to just let him be if he's that tempermental... He'll have a whole new good attitude once he's got new skin :)

    Hey,

Well that depends on the individual snook - some will eat fine while shedding and some are totally unintrested.:D

If you didn't try him while he was in shed last time then I would say try it but don't be concerned or bummed out if he refuses. Remember if he is shedding it's time to make sure the humidity is boosted to around the 60-70% mark to help him.

Just keep a closer eye on him for a couple of days to see if he starts to get the cloudy appearance and slightly darkening colours that mean he's shedding - because of course he may just be having a bad scale day.:P

Guess I'm too slow at typing again tonight
