@ 42 Days, Is this amount of dimpling ok?
Ok, I have been monitoring the eggs and they are now starting to dimple. It is 42 days since they were laid.
Do they look dry or is the amount of dimpling ok?

Let me know what you all think...
Re: @ 42 Days, Is this amount of dimpling ok?
Looks ok to me. They start to dimple around 2 weeks or so before pipping. 42 days is right on target. I have ones that are dented more than that at 48 days.

Mine looked pretty much the same at that point, day 54 here... just waiting! :)
Re: @ 42 Days, Is this amount of dimpling ok?
Thanks guys for the quick replies,
If dimpling is not a gauge for dryness anymore, then how do I know my humidity/ vermic moisture content is correct? How do i know if it is getting to dry?
Thank you for the help
Re: @ 42 Days, Is this amount of dimpling ok?
They look fine to me. If you're worried about it, put a wrung out damp paper towel over the top of them, it will add a little moisture if they need it. Personally I don't think they do, but it adds a little peace of mind and it won't hurt them any.

Re: @ 42 Days, Is this amount of dimpling ok?
They look great if you ask me. They start to dimple as it gets closer. I know it is easy to get worried about them and then you want to add more water which can be a bad thing in some cases!

Re: @ 42 Days, Is this amount of dimpling ok?
Sevo,
They look perfectly normal to me. If you are worried that the medium feels too dry, then I sometimes will pour a small amount of water in the corner of the box. My theory is that most of the water you pour in there will set on the bottom of the box and help raise the humidity without actually wicking into the rest of the incubation medium. Hope that helps. By the way, I candle eggs on day 42 for pattern, as they have developed pattern and color by that time, and you can, with a little practice, pick out Albinos, Spiders, Pinstripes and other pattern mutations.

Thank you to everyone for the help. I really appreciate it. I will just leave them alone then :salute:
Tim,
I will have to give that a shot and see if i can see what is inside them. That would be great. The clutch is ruppel pastels so it may be hard to detect.
thanks for the help again
