    What's the "yawning" all about?
DO BPs yawn? I've seen Ben stretch his jaw or yawn or something twice. Once while he was exploring his new viv for the first time and then last night on my lap. I thought he was gonna bite me for a sec and it scared the $#*! outta me so I put him back.

My corn snake, Josephine, has never done this that I know of. Do your BPs do this too? Is this a sign of being upset or just some kind of stretch?

    Thanks!

Any snakes "yawn" is just to realign or stretch their jaw. The main time you'll see them do this is before and after eating. However, some will do it randoimly for seemingly no reason at all.

They'll also yawn when nervous or stressed....so it makes sense to see it when they are first exploring a new home...or being handled by someone they are not familiar with. ;)

Oh that's good news then. Ben doesn't yawn excessively, just every once in a while.

    Thanks!

Mine yawns fairly often when active. There's no RI symptoms its just something he's always done. If he's active for a couple of hours he might yawn 3-6 times over that period.

Normally all my snakes stretch their jaws and such after I get done feeding them.
I've never really seem them do it otherwise.. Maybe once or twice, but its not a common thing really with them here, just after they eat and gobble down a mouse/rat

Mine yawn randomly for no reasons at all, I have even seen my female come out of her for the specific reason to yawn, then she goes right back in. Neither of them have even a hint of RI.
