Argentine Boas?
Hey Everybody! I would really like to know some useful information on Argentine boas. My two main questions are: how is their aggression, and how well of eaters are they?
We have recently given up 3 of our ball pythons because they would not eat at all. If an Argentine Boa is not the right snake, please point me in the right direction. I am looking for a type of snake that can be handled often with no aggression and that eats on a basic schedule.
Thanx!!!!

Re: Argentine Boas?
I don't know about Argentine boas, but for feeding response, my red-tail boa can't be beat. He will eat live, or frozen, every time. As far as aggression... he can be testy at times, but to be honest with you, I think that's something you have to prepared for no matter how "tame" your species is rumored to be.

Re: Argentine Boas?
Argentines are a intermediate boa due to their aggressive streaks. They are awesome pets, but can be really nippy as babies. I like to call it being talkative...

LOL love it! They are sure talkers

Re: Argentine Boas?
I have noticed argentines to be more tempermental than the common redtails. They eat well and can get pretty girthy when in the 6-8' range.

Re: Argentine Boas?
I have only been around one Argentine Boa myself, somewhat younger, possibly around 2.5 ft. long. It had a decent temperment, sometimes just not fond of quick movements, which is decently common with alot of animals. But it seemed like an otherwise sweet snake

Re: Argentine Boas?
The last (notice I said LAST) Argentine I had was a hell of a talker and also brought me a Sh#$ load of mites! If you have to ask those questions then stick with RTB, I've got 18 available now!

Re: Argentine Boas?
I'm really wanting an Argentiney, too. I'm falling in love with boas, and I plan to get one from the next reptile expo. I think an Argentine would be perfect for me but not completely sure. I wouldn't mind raising a baby that's "talkative", and I just love the dark coloring.
So just how available are they, and what's the average pricing?

Re: Argentine Boas?
For pure Argentines, they usually run anywhere from 125-200. Depends on the coloring. They aren't as available as some locale specifics, but they shouldn't be too hard to find. You are in the same state as Gus at RioBravoReptiles, why don't you contact him? He has some real beauties and they don't get any purer! Be wary of his dry sense of humor though, lol. Just remember that he's joking about 99% of the time!
