New Guy, Quick Question.

I just aquired my first snake; Cleopatra, 148 grams 20 inches long. Thanks to the info I've received trolling these forums over the last few months, things have been going really smooth. So I just have a quick Q.

My ambient air temps seem a few degrees too low on the cold side of my tank. Just the ambient, and just on that side. All the other temps are fine. Any suggestions?

What ARE your temps? What do you consider too low?

Hot Floor runs about 95. Hot Ambient runs about 85. Cold Floor about 83. Cold ambient is about 75...

And thanks, I've read most your FAQ's (except I think I saw you wrote one on breeding). You've already been a big help.

I would say that so long as you're confident that you're measuring the temps accurately...the snake seems to have plenty of options for thermoregulating properly. Just don't let the temps drop below 75 and you should be golden.


If you'd feel more comfortable bringing that one area of temps up a couple of degrees, you could try covering that side of the enclosure with a sheet or blanket and see if it retains the heat a little better.
