Tubs, holes or no holes?

If you leave a small gap in your rack between the tubs and the next level, do you still NEED to melt holes?

That is how my Boaphile rack is set up. There is about 1/16" gap all way around.
I only had to add holes to the top tub in the rack of four and that was because the humditiy was to high.
As far a ventilation the gap seems to be fine.
Something you will have to set up and experiment on.

I add holes to all my tubs no matter what. Some racks I add a lot, and some racks I add only a few. I've always figured that extra air flow is never a bad thing.

It really depends on you humidity levels and ambient temps. It also depends on if you have a dedicated room for snakes or in the main part of your house. I would put as many as you can and still maintain your ambient temps and humidity levels. ;) I have a dedicated snake room that I keep my ambient temps in and use a humidifier to keep the humidity up, so I put alot of holes in my tubs.

My racks leave 1/8" gap and I don't put holes in my tubs. I also have a herp room that stays at a constant 45-55% humidity.

My rack is in my bedroom and if I added a lot of holes it would bring temps down. So I go w/ the gap that is built into my rack.
I had asked Jeff @ Boaphile if I needed to add holes and he said if needed to keep temps and humidity @ the levels you need but that the gap was enough for air and flow.
He also said any holes added don't add to the front or rear of the tubs but along the sides.

I guess what ever works best for your situation is the way to go.

My first rack i put holes in the tubs because everyone else did it, but the other racks ive built have no holes and never had a problem.

I add holes no matter what......if for some reason the snake was to regurge the decaying rodent will use up available oxygen extremely fast.....lets be realistic, we are not always there to clean it right away.

This happened to a friend of mine on the way to the FL show.....one small hatchling regurged in its cup and he lost like 200 snakes on the way there. They were all deli cupped inside a large rubbermaid. Sad Sad Sad.......
