    Sprocket's New Home
Some gave us this lovely big tank so we decided it would make a great permanent crested gecko enclosure in our livingroom. We're hoping to add a couple of lovely females in this space with our male, Sprocket, whose just coming on a year old soon. Sprocket's not yet in residence in these first three pictures.

Then we popped him in (he was not impressed with his little holding tub experience LOL and started to fire up a bit).

Checking out his new kitchen area....

    Hmmm what's over here?.....

Enjoying his first misting in his new and very spacious environment...

I'm intending to over time add in more climbing vines and a couple of the feeding platforms from Pangea.

PLEASE NOTE: If you notice the two heat rocks, they are being used as any heat rock should be used...with the cord cut off and just as cage decor and something to climb on. :)

I'd love to get a tank like that for geckos... it has such potential as far as cage decoration with all the vertical space

Thanks everyone. Sprocket is checking things out carefully. We are going to get two or three of these Gecko Ledges that Pangea sells, especially when we get Sprocket some lady friends.

As well I'll be adding in some cross bars for climbing and more vines. It's something I've always wanted for Sprocket but worried he'd be overwhelmed when he was smaller. This free tank fell into our laps at just the right time it seems.

Emily I seem to remember you posting how you made gecko perches out of dowels I think in some long ago thread. Is my memory right on this and if possible could you post a pic or explain how they are made?

i made horizontal perches out of bamboo--measured and cut it to size, scrubbed it down, let it dry and then put about 3 coats of water-based polyurethane on it to keep it from absorbing anything and for super easy cleaning.

i have also started using pvc pipe instead of the bamboo but that of course isn't quite as natural looking. it is however, even easier to clean and doesn't require any prep work other than cutting and cleaning.

to mount the perches i use closet pole sockets. if you need some of these shoot me a pm because i have TONS. i bought huge box full of them cheap on ebay instead of spending $2 per pair at walmart. :P

Well Sprocket seems to be settling in rather nicely and we've seen him climb straight up the glass walls and hang about in various vines/plants. The only thing I'm concerned about is he skipped eating his worms. Should I be concerned that he can't find them in a bigger enclosure though really floor space wise he should be able to locate them in the bowl they've always been served in. Is it normal for a gecko to go a bit off feed with a big tank change up?
