    My username gives me away...
I am a BP Newb ... I recently received my first BP a few weeks ago (birthday gift from my boyfriend, how romantic ... haha, j/k, it really was sweet, he knew I wanted one .. sort of our 'love fern' if you will *that would be funny if you've seen 'how to lose a guy in 10 days*) ANYWAYS .. got a new little ball python, whom (after about two weeks of debate) have come to name 'Sweet Pea' ... it's a constant learning process, and stumbling onto this sight has been such a blessing .. in just a few hours I've been researching, I've found a lot of answers to my questions. I'm constantly trying to be the best mom I can be.....so any suggestions are MORE than welcome  She just had her first shed today (which has been quite messy - it's been coming off piece by piece - and it doesnt look like she's not done yet. I'm debating if I should put her in some water or not (she hissed at me last night when I tried to pick her up (at that point she hadn't started shedding, so I wasn't aware of any signs) so I'm hesitant to touch her right now.

Well, I don't want to write a book ... looking forward to chatting with ya'll.

If she is shedding in little pieces, get her in a small rubbermaid tub with water. you should be able to rub it all off after half an hour.

    Hi, :welcome:

You could try misting the cage or otherwise bumping up the humidity a little bit ( If you don't already have one walmart sell an acurite weather station that will tell you the humidity in your tank and the temps at both ends.) :D

Just sing out if there are any questions you don't see answered - oh and I'd better warn you now we are all addicted to seeing pictures so you will probably get bugged for them a lot.:P

Thanks a bunch for the tip ... how long should she soak in the water? I'm concerned with her being 'testy' with me - after hissin at me last night - but she looks almost done, just a few pieces stuck on here and there.

I actually am going to Walmart first thing after work tomorrow to get that 'accu-rite' reader .. I've heard it mentioned here and there, and I think it would be a lot better then the $5.99 hard to read ones I have now.

    Thanks for the advice!

You can soak your BP anywhere from 10-30 minutes in a tub, and any stuck shed should come right off. Also, do you have a glass tank set up? You can raise the overall humidity in the viv by covering the screen lid 3/4 of the way with aluminum foil, then duct-taping it onto the lid. It's worked wonders for me, and all of my shed's come off completely!

I do have a glass enclosure, with a screen lid .. I'll give that a try ... ( I do believe that the humidity is probably no where what it should be... it's dry out where I live .. heck I have trouble keeping my own skin moist ) .. thanks for the input!

Will that still supply adequate air flow/supply?

Ya, I didn't put aluminum foil around the very sides of mine though. here's a shot of my screen top, and my BP isn't bothered by it at all.
