Re: ever seen a 9 lb rat?

Re: ever seen a 9 lb rat?
Them some big rats...
I hear wharf rats are big. I believe they are part of the brown rat family.
I dont know how big they get but I hear we have some in Saint John NB and they are big and scary!

Re: ever seen a 9 lb rat?
I believe those are the same species of rats they trained to sniff out mines in other countries. Cute little guys if you give them their space

"They have large ears, black, beady eyes, hamster-like pouched facial cheeks, sharp teeth and distinctive long, stringy and white-marked tails"
This sounds suspiciously like a girl I dated in high school.

Re: ever seen a 9 lb rat?
and you didn't marry her because????
Re: ever seen a 9 lb rat?
a lot of people kept them as pets before they were made illegal along with prairie dogs, so thats probably why they were let go. thats too bad though, both for the rats exterminated and for the fact that florida doesn't need any more invasive exotic species.
Re: ever seen a 9 lb rat?
If that Burm was only 8 feet long I would consider themselves lucky! :8: lol. It's really sad at how just a few irresponsible herp/ exotic pet owners can give us others such a bad rep, and then unknowingly tamper with an ecosystem that's fragile enough as it is. :(
