    Thermostat question
I purchased a new tank from Reptile Basics along with a Helix DBS-1000. The probe is taped onto the flexwatt and I'm using a Taylor Digital thermometer to check temps.

My question is how much of a difference between your thermostat setting and actual floor temp. are you all experiencing? There is a 13 degree difference in mine and that seems like a lot. I'm using newspaper for substrate.

i usually only get a 2-3 deg. difference.

is this in a rack, cage or tank? a pic of the setup would help.

Sorry I don't have a pic yet but will take one when I get home.

It's a 2x3 tank with the flexwatt installed under it. There is a groove where you can insert the probe and tape it to the heat tape.

I see what's amiss, that newspaper has a funny way of hiding the heat.

How many layers do you all use?
