Am I just being paranoid?

My male ball seems like hes stressed. I got a male and a female the same day(last Sat.), put them in there homes. Now the male wanders around the cage like hes lost, looking up like he wants out, most of the morning and all night long. Eventually he settles down and goes to sleep, around noon. The female however I have seen twice. The temps are the same in both enclosers. 90.3/81.2/53% Am I being paranoid? I haven't' handled or bothered. Could there personality's differ that much? The people I got him from already named him and seemed a little attached. Could handling make a difference? Any reassurance would help me feel better. I just want to make sure I am doing everything right. Thanks

Their different personalities could have a lot to do with it. It could also be that the male's cage just isn't comfortable for him. How big is he and how big is his cage and hides?

If everything is okay, give him a week or two to settle down. It might also help to cover his cage with a towel while allowing a little light to come through to make him feel more secure.

I just took these pics, and as you can see hes still up wandering around aimlessly. There are two tight hides, and a water bowl.

Would he be more comfy if the air temp was higher? How high?

The temps seem fine... you may want to bump them up a couple of degrees. You can also try using different hides. Those look okay, but he may feel more comfortable in a hide that he can feel on top of him such as plant drip tray turned upside down. Also try the towel trick or covering up 3/4 of the front of his tank with a piece of cardboard or newspaper.

Thanks, I hung a dark towel in front of his cage. I am making new hides. Whould it be ok to put them in or should I wait? I know i am supposed to leave him TOTALLY alone.

Go ahead and put the hides in. :) I'm sure he'll settle down before you know it.

I made the new hides and they are only about 2 inches off the ground, covered in silk leaves to make it dark in there. I put him in kinda facing the hole of the hide, he went in and then came out. At least i know, he knows, its there. I'll keep you posted. Thanks for the help.:D

Some of them are just very picky about their hides Weena or more easily hyped up then others. They may not have big brains or do higher math, but they are individuals with their own little likes and dislikes. The longer we own snakes the more we see that it's each to their own and as their keepers we have to adjust things for some of them (though most are happy to follow the "program", some just have to slither to the beat of that different drum LOL).
