Just a newb question
i dont know if i got all this genetic stuff down here right....
ok.. lets say i had a male albino, 66% het for pied, and bred it to my female 50% het albino, 66% het for pied. If she lays 6 eggs what would be my chances to get at least one of each different morph?
Here is what i got...
91% Het Albino
91% Double Het Albino Pied
51% Albino x Het Pied
51% Albino
41% Pied x Het Albino
16% Albino x Pied
Is this right?

Re: Just a newb question
no cause that = 341%
I'll get it wrong too assuming that that both your poss hets prove out it would be the same as breeding two 100% DH together. So you would get
Het. Albino, Het. pied,
x
Het. Albino, Het. pied,
6.25% Normal
12.5% Het. pied,
6.25% Homozygous pied,
12.5% Het. Albino,
25% Het. Albino, Het. pied,
12.5% Het. Albino, Homozygous pied,
6.25% Homozygous Albino,
12.5% Homozygous Albino, Het. pied,
6.25% Homozygous Albino, Homozygous pied,
hope this helps

Re: Just a newb question
Even with an albino het for pied or pied het for albino pair breeding you only have a 1:16 chance of getting an albino pied. Its not impossible just hard to hit.

Slim to none, but it'd be a lot of fun watching those eggs hatch!

Re: Just a newb question
If I were in this position I would try to prove out that my possible albino was actually truely a het, and same with the pied genes. That way you can have a little better idea of what you are definately working with. Cuz all the hopes in the world wont do any good if one of the hets doesnt have that gene.

I said what are the chances of getting at least 1 of 6, so it doesnt matter that they equal more than 100%
for each egg it should be as follows.
33% Het Albino
33% Double Het
11% Albino
11% Albino x Het Pied
8% Pied x Het Albino
3% Albino x Pied
