5mice compare to 1 L.Rat

Hello all,l i would like to know if it is bad to feed my bp 5mice a week, compare to 1 med rat a week. The reason i ask is because my bp got his first war wound from a live rat, so i stoped feeding him rats. and when to mice, about 5 a week, small mice. Hope someone understands this.................

First i hope you are not dropping all 5 in at once :eek: .Just for info purposes a mouse can and will kill a snake also,just because they are smaller does not take away the chance.If possible try to get your snake to eat a fresh killed rat.

Umm that is VERY CRUEL TO THE RODENT!!!!! I think you might want to change your methods of feeding your snakes as someone could report you to the animal control in your area.That is animal cruelty big time.

i feed one at a time then give him 5min after the mose is done, and i would not break the teeth. also i have tried f/t....

Well, first - your snake does not NEED anything larger than a 40-50 gram rat each week (that's roughly 4-5 weeks old), or the equivalent of 2 large mice.

No one in my crew gets more than 1 small/small rat a week, or two adult mice a week. My largest is 2150 grams.

So, I would say that you were over-feeding with 1 medium rat a week to begin with, so five mice is a bit of overkill, IMHO.

so two large mice a week should be fine? and will that be fine for a lifetime?

Yes - that's 104 mice a year. Even their wild cousins don't eat that much in a year

I agree with Robin I feed nothing larger then a small rat, 4 weeks old to be exact and my BP are doing fine, those that eat mice will never get anything more then 2 mice a week which is the equivalent of my 4 weeks old rats.
