    So the rat that I have been just waiting for her to pop...did I got home today and found 12 fresh born minutes old pinks and a very attentive mother..

    Well I was very proud none eaten and none still born. So here to the start of a ratty road.. :D

    Nice looking litter! I haven't found rats to cannibalize like mice do. They will dispose of a sick or dying baby, but not for seemingly "no reason" like mice.


    The next challenge will be feeding off your first litter - that was very tough for me.

    Naaaa their food.. I have only gotten attached to one rat ever and he was born with only one ear.


    I woke up this morning and checked all had little full tummies and mom was waiting to be fed.. So all systems are go

    Yep rats are generally easy as pie to breed. It's pretty rare, though not unheard of of course, for a female rat to reject or cannabalize her healthy young. Very nice first litter and that female looks good! Nice coat, nice size...good job Mr. Rat Breeder! :D Remember now momma rat will need more water and food than usual as she feeds the lil teat leeches.

    Yea if figured as much so I doubled her food that I offered and they keep a full water bottle so its all good.
