Feeding Question!

Hi this is my first post on here! Anyways i've been doing my research and im hopefully getting my baby BP soon, but i had a question about feeding. Many things ive read say that you should not feed your snake in his cage. However i also know you shouldnt handle them after they feed or they could regurgitate and i was wonderign how if i fed him in a different place would i get him back into his enclosure without bothering him too much and ive also seen pics of some of your guys snakes on here eating in their cage. From your experience is this okay to do?

First welcome to the site..

Second I feed all of mine in their enclosures. You should be ok feeding in the tub just watch out for loads of substrate getting stuck on the prey. Handling after a feed is stressful. However I wouldn't classify picking it up to return it to it home handling, keeping him out and messing with it thats handling, the worst you run from feeding in something other than your snakes home is the threat of getting bit. They stay in feeding mode for a while after eating and then here comes a nice warm hand in to get them and whack it might get ya..

There is no reason to feed him in a seperate container. To your point, it can cause more stress and harm. Ball's are ambush predators so they like to stay in their hide (their cage) and wait for the prey to walk by and then grab them.


I would just plan to feed them in his cage...the only change might be to remove the hide he isn't using at the time so the mouse/rat doesn't make use of it. :)

Its not a good idea to remove his hide as it will cause the snake to feel unsafe.The less you stress the snake the better off he will be.;)

Hides what are these hides you speek of :D

I was pointing out to freaky frog what i was quoting in my previous response.Its not a good idea to remove the hides during feedings.

OIC...then I disagree with you. By removing the hide that the snake is not using it won't stress the snake (since he isn't using it) and it will prevent the prey from finding a place to hide of his own.
