Well, I met a larger snake and fell in love

he was at a pet store were they dpont handle them as much and he was cold so i scooped him up brought him home and put himin a heated tank

Hes healthy, inquisitive, loves tobe held doesnt ball up in a tiny ball and rarely gets scared

I was ALSO angry they had him in with a rather agressive one that balled up and lunged

Is that one of those strip thermometers across the back? - if it is you can go ahead and throw it away and still have as good a guess at the temps in the tank. I tried using those once - on the plus side they didn't cost me much.:D

BTW are snakes that move around alot and dont ball up tight better than those that ball up easy?

No, not really.

They can both be stress indicators depending on circumstances and the snakes involved. I wouldn't try and make any decisions on your new friends temperament till he's had time to settle in and get used to all the new things around him. :)

As always how well they eat id regarded as a good indication if they are happy in their situations. I'd still give him the standard week of no handling to settle in before trying to feed him though.

stupid themometer is reading 85-90 *flucuation* soi put the wholething in there (buried the cable in substate, and he didnt act agitated at all just laid there like whats this?)

humidity is 45 and holding and he seems happy

course hes warmer than that icky place he was in

He's wandering because he's getting used to a new home - no handling for at least a week and preferably not until he eats for you (don't try to feed for a week).


He needs a second hide in there too.

Too much wandering can be an indication of stress. I just adopted an adult female and she's been in her hide after exploring for about 1/2 an hour and rarely ventures out (she must at night, I never see her out, actually).

A snake you rarely see is a content snake, a snake training for the snake olympics is not.

He's a very pretty boy!
