    belly heat vs back heat
i am sure this discusion has been had before but i can't find anything from seaching... so if anyone can direct me that would be great.

anyway i am going to be getting a 31qt (or 2 15qt) rack and the guy that makes them uses back heat. and i was just want to hear some pro's and con's of using back heat rather then belly heat.

    thanks

It really depends on your ambient room temp. A higher room temp and back heat is fine to give a proper temp gradient. If you have a low room temp them you need the spot heat that belly heat provides to provide a higher "hot" spot.

Seems to me like it's inefficient. You lose too much heat and have to crank it up higher than you would with belly heat.
