    Hooray! another newbie question!
    When people say things like this:

    my family are ..

    0.1.0 pygmy rattle snake
    1.0.0 Hetero Japanese rat snake
    0.0.1 Rhinocerous Viper
    1.0.0 Mex Black king snake
    0.1.0 Children`s python
    1.2.0 Dwarf lancehead Viper
    1.0.0 Whitelipped python

    What do the numbers mean?

    The numbers are used to specify the gender of the animals.

    1.2.3 = 1 male, 2 female and 3 unknown gender

    Then does this mean they have a male and a female:
    1.2.0 Dwarf lancehead Viper ?

    And what the heck does it mean when the number 1 is all the way at the end with zeros for everything else? Why are there always three slots?

    male.female.unknown

    So...if the numbers read: 0.0.1 then it means they have one animals of that species but don't know if it's male or female.

    There's not always three slots. Most people will just use two: male.female when they aren't counting any unsexed animals. Therefore, I say I have 0.1 ball pythons, because I have one female ball python. I also have 1.0 cape gophersnake...so...one boy cape gopher.

    And in your example, 1.2.0 would mean one male and two female lanceheads.
