    Questions on Surinam Boa
I found a Surinam Boa on CraigsList for free. 2 years old, 5-6 feet long.

Does that sound a bit long for a 2 year old BCC?? If I get a call I don't want to be getting a monster (9-10ft)!!

What size tank should I put her in (yes, it's a female)?? Now and for the future.

I'd be weary of what I got for free on Craig's List. Check over the boa very well, you don't want a Boa that's going to need more vet bills than buying one would cost.

A Suriname should look like this:

You will need to either buy a cage, I'd say give Jeff a call www.boaphile.com, or build one. You might need to build something, since Jeff has a really good waiting list. Also, check out reptile basics, I heard his are pretty nice too. You will need at least a 4ftx2ftx1ft cage, and preferably a 6ft x 2ft x 2ft for a long healthy home. Good luck!

I've had similar thoughts. I'd look for mites, burns, scale rot, etc. It's worth a look. Here's the pic he posted with the ad. A little thin for being fed a large rat every week??

I could possibly put it on consignment at a local aquarium/reptile store (local owned). I've been investigating enclosure size and found exactly what you said. I'm going to build a 6' x 2 enclosure (wood) for a Savannah Monitor, I could just build another level and seal it.

Looks like a suri to me. You are right though, not very big...but that one I posted above is a 2004 and eating a large rat every two weeks. Hope it turns out well for ya!

That's a really nice looking suri.. check it over real well, and if it's healthy, you got a real steal.

(that is at a chunky angle).... :P
So yes, I'd say the Suri looks a little thin.... but they are eating machines once they are on the right track! So she might have been an import that wasn't treated for internal parasites??? No telling... best of luck with that pretty girl if you get her!!! :sunny:

Better to be a little on the lean side than on the fat side...lean is easy to fix. I'm certainly no expert, but it doesn't look overly skinny to me. :)

Thanks. I emailed them twice and got no response. Oh well.

I should stick with the zoo we have already.
