getting another snake question

i was just wondering how long it was from the time you got your first snake to and the time you got a second one? besides catching little garter snakes when i was younger, i got my first ball python a month ago, and now i got an itch to get another one. i was just trying to set a time frame up and would like some opinions. i plan on getting a king snake, thats what i have wanted for a while, but my bp kind of fell into my lap.

Well, first you need to study up on the care of kings. Then you would need to get a cage ready. Then I'd pick out a good breeder/store to get your snake from.

It's an addiction, alright! :P

hey thats just like me, i got a bp a little while ago now i want a king :D

I got my cornsnake in December, my fiance got a king in March (not sure if you want to count that as my second) and now I'm itching for another snake, a ball python this time maybe.

Just got my bp last month and now I can't wait for the Raleigh reptile expo weekend after next to see about getting another... not that I can stay off stinkin' craigslist browsing and inquiring about the ones I see there!

heh.. guess I'm the exception to the rule... I got my first corn about 7 years ago and he was the only one, until this year when the fever hit and hit hard. Now I have two more, although one managed to escape :(, but I hope to get a replacement female at the reptile expo this weekend (in case she doesn't ever show up again). and I plan on getting a ball or two in a year or two. and then onto breeding everyone. :D

For me it was three years....I got my normal and was happy. To tell the truth I didn't like morphs or the idea of them. Then Daniel put Odin his 100% het Pied male up for sale.I begged and pleaded with the wife to let me get him that was April or June of last year. Cool I thought I was hot stuff I had a het.. :D. Then the bug hit and hit hard and in one month I got two pastels, one spider, one mojave and 6 normal females.. :eek: And one year later after getting Odin I added a Het pied female with no plans to slowing down. I hope this year to add 5 more hets for two different morphs :D and I'm not tell which one (I love recessive stuff) and a male Mojave or Lesser I want a BLE to name after my wife.

Well I got the first 2 bp's in our collection one week...with in 3-4 weeks we had 6..I have no impulse control :oops: Although the first 4 were rescued...we werent really ready for them an hadnt even thought about owning more snakes at the time...then I heard about 2 that were being housed poorly and I just couldnt pass them up...that week 2 more fell into our lap just about the same way...the last 2 we were ready for and picked up at the tampa show...and were making room for more we hope to get soon :D :D :D

As long as you can house them properly an everything I dont think there is any set time you should wait...Just ask yourself why you want it...that should give you the answer of is it time or not. If you answer "because everyone I know has alot" then yeah I say no its not time... if you answer "because I love the one I have and would love to own more" then sure....good luck let us know what ya do!!

one of my main reasons for getting another is because i love my lil guy so much, but most of the time he just chills in his hide. i don't like to disturb him and make him all stressfull, so i only handle him 2-3 times a week. if i have another guy i would be able to have more "snake time" in a sense. i also want to widen my variety of snakes, so eventually i have a little of everything.
