Ok, I have a question to all the breeders out there. Is common or possible for a 500g female to lay infertile eggs without ever being with a male or being cooled for any length of time? My girl went off feed this winter even though she hadn't been cooled or overfed.
I wasn't at all expecting this infertile egg thing with my bearded dragon (whom i thought was a male until she layed a month and a half ago) so I know what an egg looks like. Last night, I was doing routine checks and my one females (who is normally the most mild-mannered snake) was angry and sitting on urate and a very small slug egg. It was only slightly larger than the ones my beardie recently laid, which I thought was unusual. But then again she is only 500g.
However, looking back on the last few months, I did catch her doing things that gravid females do (laying with the body inverted, coiled around her water bowl inverted). I just passed it off as her doing some weird stuff because she has never been with a male or cooled.
So anyway, my question was basically if this is normal? Has anyone else had this happen? I haven't checked this morning to see if there were any more yet, I figured I'd leave her alone after disturbing her last night just incase there were more to come out.
This spring has just been crazy with my females! :rolleye2: Any input would be appreciated! Thanks!
