I hate the post office!!!!!! (rant)
Okay, so I finally save up enough money for a really expensive tarantula, a P. metallica for you spider folks out there. Anyway $320 worth of spider. Ok, fine, I send my money, the guy ships the spider out on Monday night with the promise of next day delivery by noon. Noon arrives, the spider does not. I call the shipper and we both start calling every branch and service of the usps (yes I know it should be capatalized, they aren't worth it) and start asking questions. Where is the package?
Well they don't know. We have a tracking number and the website says it it "en route". Then they start telling us that there is no way it could have been delivered by noon because the shipper didn't get it to the post office until after 6 the night before. He, however has a receipt that says it will be delivered by noon.
My letter carrier knows that I get spiders in the mail and in the course of trying to help me locate the package must have said so. So the next time I talk to them I was treated in one of the most rude, nasty ways that I have ever been spoken to. They made it very clear that they don't give a flying (insert curse word here) about my package and start giving me a hard time because it was a spider that was shipped. (well, it is, but I never said so.) I am so mad I could chew nails!!!!! Not only do I not deserve to be treated like that it would be nice if some people somewhere in this world worried just for once about customer service!!!!!
On top of that there is somewhere out there floating about, a $320 tarantula that might or might not survive until tomorrow.
I'm so upset I don't even know how I feel. Thanks for reading, I apologize for ranting.

You can ship live animals via USPS?

I know they do not allow snakes, lizards, etc.....are arachnids an exception?

I would go with a more reliable carrier next time....Fedex has been great at getting my live animal shipments where they need to be on time.

Anyways....I hope your shipment arrives safely....It is a horrible feeling waiting on a late package with a live animal inside.

No, they're prohibted which may explain the rude customer service you're receiving from them.

I'm sorry you have to deal with a lost package, but I would be more upset at the shipper for not realizing this or trying to save a few bucks in shipping costs.

Well, I didn't know they were prohibited until this morning. I assumed they were not because in the last 2 months I have recieved 6 shipments of tarantulas from different places and they have all been sent usps overnight. I guess I thought that because so many places use them it was legal.

They still shouldn't be getting :cens0r::cens0r::cens0r::cens0r::cens0r:y with me though. I didn't ship anything that shouldn't have been shipped. And I was very polite to them. Well that changes, I just found out how to register a complaint against postal workers, and you better believe that I'm going to do it.

My question is why didn't the seller ship it where they offer insurance?? Mailing it sounds like their trying to stay under the radar or they can't ship Fed-Ex or UPS???

    Just my two cents.

You're absolutely right. Usually poor customer service is due to one or several employees. Hopefully if they get enough complaints something will be done about it...

However mailing or receiving and item via USPS that is prohibited is a felony. If she is receiving an item that is prohibited by the USPS then she might be looking at criminal charges in an extreme case, getting uppity with them might not be the best idea.
