    Lighting Up.
OK, I'd like to light up my viv so that I can see my snake and not my own reflection. I don't want to give off lots of heat as I already have a ceramic lamp.

Does anyone have any experience of this and do you think that using bulbs like

in white(day) and blue(night) would work or would they upset the snake?

These little led lamps are only 1.8W which would be very cheap to run.

Just thinking so please be gentle if you disagree.

I think that a white light will stress your snake out. Considering they spend most of their time in burrows and termite mounds in the dark, I would think having a bright light on them could be rather stressful.

Well, you could try it. Just be prepared for the possibility of your snake suddenly refusing to eat. (For the reasons Robin mentioned) It might not happen, though. The snake might not care. Some don't. Also, keep an eye on the temps and make sure that even that small change doesn't add heat to the small, enclosed space.
