Auurghhh!

Usually I buy bulk mice and rats at the shows. This week I ran out of everything. I only have 12 snakes and 4 frogs yet the food bill this week was 48 dollars!! :eek: :eek: Pet shop frozen and live are so high.
You bet I will be stocking up next week!!!:taz:

Thats why I started breeding them. My wife was about to shoot me over the rat bill. I can get smalls for between $2.00 and $3.75, and it adds up quick.

Yup, that's one of the reasons why I started breeding my own rats. Also the second reason is, the guy I get my feeders from only has the size rats I need about a week or two out of the month... so it was p.i.t.a getting right size small rats for my gang. This way I can raise up and feed off the rats when I want to and or need to. If I need fuzzes.. I got them, need just weaned rats.. I got them, need small rats.. I got them. No more calling up people and asking them if they have any certain size of rats. One of my friend joking said that I was calling up feeder breeders like I was looking for drugs. *shakes head* yeah it was a total pain in the butt, I no longer have to deal with high food bills or lack of rats to feed my hungry snakes!

I know what your saying. Sometimes it's a major dash to find available food before its bought up. I try to stock up at shows but didn't realize I was low, I missed the show. :(

I only have to buy for one snake and a leo. The snake runs me about $6 a month. When I move in with my fiance, I think I'll start buying for Spencer as well and that will double the bill to $12 a month. So right now, its not worth breeding anything but the mealworms for Chibi.

I know what you mean hon. Everytime I remember what I used to pay for live feeders at the pet store I run over and pat the breeder rats and say thanks LOL. I still have to buy live mouse feeders as once again my attempt to be a mouse breeder has failed miserably (oh but I hate mice! :mad: )
