Swtiching to 50gal tank got ?'s

I am switching out of my wooden tank and just got my 50 gal tank with stand it looks nice its 48'' long, 12''wide, and 30'' tall, I will be doing either flex watt tape or the heat mat. I know my BP is kind of small for this tank but does it affect them if its too big, and also can I put two BP's together in that tank perhaps a female with him? And also if anyone knows any sites where I can get good deals and all the equipment I will need for the tank. I will most likely use newspaper to cover the bottom unless I can find something better looking thats easy to clean. Pet store told me to clean the tank every 3 to 4 months does that sound right???

A 50 gallon is larger than even an adult will need and yes, it will stress out a young ball python, possibly even throwing them off feed.


It's also going to be very difficult to maintain proper temps and humidity without a lot of work.

NEVER house two ball pythons together, no matter how large the enclosure. They do not desire, nor require companionship and forcing them to share the same living space with no means of escaping each other will cause one to dominate the other. Behavior you may interpret as "cuddling" will in fact be dominance.

When I had a tank, I completely broke down and disinfected once a month. I don't envy you lugging a 50 gallon aquarium to the bathtub once a month! :O

alrite well I will just use this 50 gal tank for the turtles im thinking about picking up and I will get this new tank that I saw that is already set up for my BP instead. The other tank is 40 gal but its a lot smaller its almost same size as mine right now except its an aqarium, and has no wood so no germs! You should have seen me when I was new. The only dumb question is the one that's not asked. :)

Thats true, well I will keep asking when I am unsure till I get more familiar with the needs of a BP. Right now my main goal is to give it a better home then the one I got and to make sure I have all the gadets and toys so that he is happy and healthy. I will post up more when I get stuck. Thanks
