Set up pics for new BP owner
I got everything beside the lid and the BP

    Here's some info

using under tank heater and a 20L tank and using accurite thermometer.

temps are cool side 72 degress F and warm side 95-96 degress F (dont know if this matters but temp was taken at night and the outside temp was near 30-40)

room temp is at 69-70 (that's what the house is kept at and is a two story)

    humidity is 42%

dont kno if everything is right or not need some critizime and need to kno where to put the probe i currently have it in the substare (aspen) just lighlty covered.

    so here's the pic's

Those hides are really close together, are they on the hot/cool spots? You might want to put one each on the ends, with the water dish in the middle?

How are you controlling the UTH? You'll definitely want to get those low temps up to the low-mid 80s.

Sometimes it's difficult to get the temps right in a glass cage, but not impossible. You can try to insulate the cage a little better by placing cardboard or styrofoam on the sides and top of the cage. Also, you may try to heat the room a little more or place the cage in a warmer room.

    Good luck!

Im not controlling the UTH do i need a thermostat. I will switch the hides. I cant put the cage in a diffrent room but it is located by a window but i always have the shade down and it is a insulated cage which i dont think would matter. It could be that the weather somehow coming threw the window (located in michigan and hate the weather :( )

You do need a thermostat. My UTH took a while to heat up completely but when it did it got HOT. Especially with warmer weather coming.

    A few of things.

    1. I would move your themometer down (closer to the substrate) as that is where you need to be measuring the cool side temps.
    2. You really need to get the top before you start adjusting too much. Most likely you will need to insulate the top so you can raise your humidity up some (50-60%) When you do this it will also have the affect of raising your temps up some.
    3. I agree with others seperate the hides to either side with the water dish in the middle (better temperature gradient)
    4. The warm side hide...is it like a bowl (does it have a bottom or is the bottom open to the substate)?

Let me know on #4 as I may see another issue.

--- I will do that and message or post it in a couple of hours.

--- getting the top when the pet store has it (soon)

    ---- moved them.

---- It is like a cave thing and is closed in with moss in it.

So where is the actual temp probe? I assume based on the pic that it is sandwiched between the glass and bottom of the hide? If so then I would recommend you move it to the inside of the hide (use a heat glue gun to stick it down ..no tape) Reason for this is you need to know what the temps are where your snake is going to be (and you don't want that rock hide to turn into an oven .

My other concern is that with such a low room temp the "hot side" is really only a hot hide...the air in the cage is very cold (for a ball) you need to consider a Ceramic heating element to raise the over all temp in the cage.

The probe is out of the hide i just have it lightly covered with aspen on the side of the hide not touching it. And how would i do the ceramic heater ( what voltage, where to place it, keep the UTH)
